AUG in Perth - Details and Trails

If you are a Melbourne University Student read on. Otherwise you are not eligible for AUG

The year is flying by so its that time of year when we get the ball rolling on the organisation of the Australian University Games.  For anyone who doesn't know the Australian University Games is the biggest event of the year where the club sends a Men's, Women's and Mixed touch team to compete against universities from around Australia.  The Games are in Perth during the break in semester 2, 26th September - 1st October. This has resulted in the costs of attending the games to rise but also provided difficulties in logistics, particularly in the booking of flights.  So in order to avoid confusion and people being left buying flights at the last minute at ridiculous prices we have decided to select the teams earlier than previous years.

To select the teams to attend the Games we are running two selection trials in the last week of May. The trials are on Tuesday 25th and Thursday 27th May

In order to be eligible to be selected in one of these three teams attendance is compulsory. Because there are so many people keen to be selected and limited spots available only under exceptional circumstances can you miss these trials.  In the event that you cant make these dates you must contact me by either email at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it or on 0438865677 through a text or call.  In this case I will organise another date/training session where I can have a look at you.

These are selection trials so from these trials we will select teams that will begin training ASAP to prepare for University Games. If you are selected in the team you are expected to demonstrate a certain level of commitment to your team both in the winter competition and at training.  If you do not meet the expectations as set out by your coach again due to the high demand for limited spots, we will have no hesitation in discussing your selection.

Therefore, if you are not selected in the initial team we encourage you to continue to train, play and improve in the case that someone is unable to commit.

If there are any questions regarding the trials and selection please don't hesitate to contact me.  If there any question regarding AUG talk to any one of the committee members or contact the club at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

Summary for AUG

*Be available between 26th September - 1st October for the games

Sunday Fitness Postponed - Mothers Day

Sunday Fitness will not be running this week as it is Mothers Day and most people have some form of function on during the day. Sunday fitness will recommence next week and for those of you who are interested in doing some more fitness a group normally meets at 4.15pm before training sessions for some sprint and agility work so get along to that if your keen.
